So does anyone call anyone else by their full names anymore? Unless your name is only one syllable, chances are you're called a shortened version of your name. I realize once we get comfortable with someone, two or more syllables is just too much. Is it an issue of being comfortable with a friend or are we just plain lazy? But shortening names is pretty understandable.
It gets interesting when we start making variations out of people's names or give them nicknames that are completely unrelated to their names. There's always a wierd funny story behind them, and usually we say we don't like being called by those names, but secretly we indulge in it on the inside and crack a smile when nobody's looking.
So I guess I pose the question of what nicknames have you recieved? And what's the story behind them?
I've gotten a couple in the past few years aside from just good ol' Pat...And more recently alot more people are calling me Patty...but aside from those...There's also been...Patty Cake, Pancake, Waffle, Tricky, Trickster, and yes...the one I've particularly grown to loathe...Starfish...
Feel free to add on if I've forgotten something you might've called me.
And add yours too!
=)

ah, yes. nicknames. it seems that nowadays nicknames indicate the friendliness between two people. you should consider yourself lucky that you have close friends, ones close enough to feel comfortable calling you Patty Cake and Starfish (as much as you hate that)
